I am glad I made this Oxalis photo on Monday before our temperatures dropped to 21F that night. We are beginning to thaw out a bit now, but I don't expect to see any more outdoor blooms for awhile.
I hope to have an Amaryllis bulb blooming indoors for our December Bloom Day.

Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

  1. At least you still had plants to freeze. Here they are already buried beneath the snow.

  2. Hello, pretty blooms. We have had a few mornings in the low 20's. Enjoy your day, have a happy weekend!

  3. I do love oxalis in all its variations. We didn't get nearly as cold as you, but on our coldest night, we did get down to 28. It was enough to put most of my blooms to rest as well.

  4. Nice shot. Sad when the frost bites all the flowers---that is Nature though

  5. Does that Oxalis come back from its roots in the spring? I have a potted purple one, which comes inside every winter...and just keeps on living (as long as I remember to fertilize it a few times a year.)

    Your weather sounds cold!
    Keep warm.

    All the best Jan

  7. We in upstate New York expect these temperatures but not so soon - so we were prepared. 21, yikes. I hope your oxalis will come back from the roots - I'm not sure how hardy the roots are, though. I have a pot we bring in for the winter and the oxalis in it goes dormant - to our surprise it (a red one) came back this year. The pot is inside again, and has gone dormant.

  9. The Oxalis is lovely and it’s good you got a picture! It did get cold very quickly here as well with the first frost just a few days ago. Predictions are calling for a rough winter. Hopefully they’re wrong! Happy Bloom Day!
