Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, April 2019

The northeast corner of Mississippi, USA zone 7

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, April 14, 2019
For you who live in the eastern half of the United States, the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are back. If you do not have your feeders out yet, they may just pass you by in favor of your neighbor's garden!

I have a few Daffodils, Narcissus, still blooming

Encore Azalea 'Autumn Royalty'

Snowball, Viburnum

Red Buckeye, Aesculus pavia

Kerria japonica 'Pleniflora'

Wisteria

A double white Clematis (Sorry, I have forgotten its name).

Virginia Spiderwort, Tradescantia virginiana, a wildflower I rescued from the side of the road last year.

Pink Dogwood Tree, a cultivar of the native White Flowering Dogwood, Cornus florida.

  6. Beautiful hummingbird! Kerria japonica is new to me so I looked it up. It should be hardy here. Never knowingly have seen it. Thank you for the coming attractions as we try to progress through spring.

  8. That's a gorgeous white daffodil.
My wisteria is forming flowers for the first time! I am so excited! The plant has only been in the ground two years, so it's quite young still.

  16. Your spring is ahead of ours, of course, but we are getting there. Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have not arrived yet, but many other migrants are already staking out territories and seeking mates.
