Northern Mockingbird, April 10, 2019

N is for Northern Mockingbird

Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, April 9, 2019
Northern Mockingbirds, Mimus polyglottos, are medium-sized, slender songbirds with long tails that live in North America. Their cousins live in Central and South America. They are very accomplished singers that are able to mimic many bird calls and other sounds that they hear frequently.

They eat a variety of insects, earthworms, and wild berries. You may be able to attract them to your yard by planting trees and shrubs that produce fruit or berries.

Have a wonderful day!
