Since Thursday, November 11, is Veterans Day here in the United States, I decided to show you this mural that honors the soldiers of the American Civil War and the history of Iuka (pronounced Eye-you-kah) in northeast Mississippi. I like the way the late afternoon sun enhanced the colors.
General Grant and General Rosecrans were leaders of the Union Army. General Price and General Little were leaders of the Confederate Army. The mural was painted for the 150th anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Iuka. The other panels depict historic places in the area.

ReplyDeleteThis is a stunning mural. I enjoyed seeing these historic figures I read about as a child, and a battle I never heard of before. This was great in that it showed no favoritism when it came to Generals!
