Of course when they see me with my camera, they instantly turn and swim farther out in the lake!

Hello Lea,
ReplyDeleteGreat series of Coot photos. The last one is checking you out. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for your comment, link and visit.
I always enjoy seeing these large rafts of coots.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've seen that bird before. You say they return to your area when it gets colder, where did they come from?
ReplyDeleteI have added a range map to answer your question. Since we are due south of the Great Lakes region, I think they probably nest in that area in the Spring and Summer.
DeleteCamera shy, Lea! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYes, they fall/winter with you and spring/summer with us. It's always fun to see the menagerie of water birds that return to our Wisconsin lakes in the springtime. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThose are common here too but I have never seen THAT many together! WOW! How cool is that!
ReplyDeleteCoots look great! It's their breeding season here.

Thank you for stopping by to add your link from here for all of us at IRBB. I enjoy them...with their big green feet & "grunts".
ReplyDeleteHello,:=) Wow, so many coots, and you took great pictures of them.:=)
ReplyDeleteI love your coots. When we used to vacation at Bear Lake in Utah, the lake had lots of coots.
