Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, March 2021

The 15th of each month is Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day.
The northeast corner of Mississippi, USA zone 7b

Click on the photos to see them at their best.

After being hit with snow and ice in February, the Daffodils are making a magnificent comeback!

Here are just a few of the different colors I have.

I am sorry I do not remember their names.

Hyacinth

Spring Beauty, Claytonia virginica, is a tiny wildflower whose colors range from white to dark pink.

I think this is Flowering Quince.

The Forsythia is beginning to bloom.

And one of our pear trees is blooming.

Now for a look at things to come...
My Red Buckeyes have buds! Buckeyes are shrubs native to the southeastern United States and very attractive to Hummingbirds. Last year I saw our first Hummingbird here in north Mississippi on March 28. Check this map to follow their Spring migration, and get your feeders ready for them!

Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

  1. Lea - You already have some beautiful flowers. I am hoping my quince will bloom this year. I love your daffodils. I planted 100 more last fall. Can't wait to see what is blooming next Bloom Day.

  3. It is so lovely to see all of these spring flowers, Lea! I have just seen some Winter Aconite and a few Snowdrops which were trying to open but it is cold here again.

  5. The spring beauty is so pretty. I like your hyacinth much better than mine. Mine are so fat you can barely see each flower. They sure smell good though.

  6. That Claytonia is sweet but it's the pear tree blooms that really grabbed my attention this month, Lea - they're perfection. Happy Spring!

  8. Beautiful flowers! We won't start seeing the first spring growth until late April, and then it's those small little flowers that bloom for a few days in shady spots.
