American Coots can be found across much of North America in freshwater wetlands. Some American Coots migrate and others stay in the same area all year. Here in our part of the southeastern United States they are migratory birds, visiting us only in the Winter.
I hope you have a wonderful day!

Beautiful birds! We have coots here in Germay, too - looking a bit different.

ReplyDeleteI've always enjoyed watching coots. Fun little birds.

ReplyDeleteOh it's not a Pied Bill Grebe?
ReplyDeleteNo, not a Pied-billed Grebe, though there are certain similarities between Coots and Grebes.
DeleteI use the Cornell Lab of Ornithology website to ID birds. Here is their info on Pied-billed Grebes if you are interested.
