Dragonfly, April 22, 2017

Saturday's Critters, Camera Critters, and Shadow Shot Sunday 2
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, April 10, 2017
The Common Whitetail Skimmer, Plathemis lydia, is a dragonfly seen across much of North America. This is a male; the female has a brown body and a different wing pattern. Dragonflies eat mosquitoes and other small flying insects.

Doesn't it cast a pretty shadow!

It knows how to use camouflage. If I had not seen it light there, I would have never noticed it.

Have a wonderful week-end!

  4. Beautiful and soon our Dragon and Damselflies should begin to show up. I think one buzzed by me yesterday and today it is too cold, they will be hiding, just like me ;)
