Sky Watch Friday, April 7, 2017

Pickwick, Tennessee, USA, April 3, 2017
We had almost 3 inches (7cm) of rain Sunday night, and skies were still very cloudy when we went to Pickwick Lake on Monday.

There were very few boats on the water.

But the Gulls and Great Blue Herons were having a fine time fishing. It is interesting to me that the Great Blue Herons fold their necks back in flight while most other birds extend their necks.

Hope you are having good weather where you are!

  4. I love being on the water, too and often watch a heron that comes to feed. But, do you know, I never really paid attention to the fact that they pull their head in to their bodies to fly!! I have to take a closer look.

  7. We are having rain and wet snow today, along with some sleet. And some low lying areas are starting to flood. But it was nice to see trees leafing out. Not yet for us in upstate New York!
