Winter Wren, December 14, 2016

ABC Wednesday and Wild Bird Wednesday
W is for the Winter Wren

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, November 25, 2016
Winter Wrens, Troglodytes hiemalis, are small birds, being only about 4 inches (10cm) in length. Their breeding range includes the Pacific Coast of North America, across central Canada to the Atlantic Coast, and the northeastern parts of the United States. They migrate to the southern United States to spend the Winter months.

I was fortunate to get two photos as these energetic little birds quickly shift positions and dart back and forth. Europeans may see the Winter Wren's cousin the Eurasian Wren, Troglodytes troglodytes.

Have a wonderful day!
