Roosters, November 12, 2016

Colbert County, Alabama, USA, October 27, 2016
These two roosters got into a crowing contest. The first one would crow...

Then the other one would crow. Back and forth it went; each one was trying to outdo the other.

This rooster just ignored them for awhile...

Then he stood up and gave them lessons from an expert!

Note to my bird-watching friends: chickens are thought to be descendants of the Red Junglefowl, Gallus gallus. Now you know that, you can add Gallus gallus domesticus
to your birding lists!

Have a great week-end!

  2. Haha, my sister's dogs do that too. But they don't hesitate much before going into the barking contest.

(Fortunately they spend much of their day sleeping or trying to get some petting.)

  4. Being a little girl [long ago] I was always at my grandparents' farm. I loved collecting eggs with my grandmother. And to this day, I love hearing a rooster crow!!

  5. Love chickens. When I owned them, years ago, I didn't even mind when they crowed. Which they did constantly. No idea why this city girl thought they only crowed once, when the sun came up. Nope.

  7. I enjoy their different colourations and looks, but we have neighbors with Roosters and they are loud all day long, the hens just make sweet noises~
