Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day May 2012

What's blooming in Mississippi Zone 7

Day Lily - I've had these so long I don't remember which variety they are.

The Hydrangeas are just beginning to show their blue color.
In a few more days they will be a pretty medium blue.

Dianthus, Sweet William, comes in many colors. This red/pink is one of my favorites.

Coreopsis, also known as Tick Seed, can spread so fast that it may be considerd invasive.
Here it is trying to crowd out the Dianthus.

Butterfly Bush, Nanho Purple, is budding. Soon it will be in full bloom!

Coral Honeysuckle attracts Hummingbirds.

Evening Primrose blooms at sunset and closes at mid-morning the next day.

  7. I love your butterfly bush :) I have a spot picked out for one in my garden. So much work to do, so little time/energy...

  8. Your blooms are quite lovely! I'm thinking you aren't as far ahead of our zone 5b as in most years, though.

  9. A belated Happy Bloom Day! Your Hydrangeas are lovely. Like Sue said, your zone doesn't seem as far ahead as usual. Are any of your blooms arriving early this year compared to past seasons?
