Wildflower Wednesday February 22 2012

I have some tiny wildflowers to show for Wildflower Wednesday.

Thanks to Judy at Lilac Gate, I think this is Spring Beauty 'Claytonia virginica'

This may be a kind of Bluet. If anyone can identify for certain, please do.

This looks like a tiny violet.  Does anyone know what it is?

Happy Wildflower Wednesday!

  1. Lea, I love the little flowers. SO SWEET! The one you can a Bluet, I believe grows here in Houston as well. Great Photos!

  2. I love the way you photographed these in your hand--the pictures show just how tiny these little blooms are. Lovely, delicate flowers--a perfect way to welcome spring!

  3. Very pretty little blooms - I wish I could ID for you.

  4. Tiny beauties! Spring Beauties are my favorite and I love, love the little bluet! Aren't those little cutie pie violets superb! I can't id them...yet! gail

  5. I'm not sure what your blooms are, but they sure are little sweeties! Lovely!

  6. Thanks to Sharon at Sprouts and Wildlings, I think I have identified the last photo as a Field Pansy. Hers are a lighter color, but according to info on a wildflower website (Illinois Wildflowers), the color can vary from light to dark.
    Have a great week!
