Saturday's Critters and I'd Rather B Birdin'

Click on the photo to see it at its best.

Prentiss county, Mississippi, USA, January 7, 2022
My photo of the Pileated Woodpecker, Dryocopus pileatus, is not as clear as I would like, but it was the best I could get from my dining room window. They eat ants and other insects, and sometimes visit suet feeders. Look for them in old forests with large dead trees.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I am linking in today with Saturday's Critters and I'd Rather B Birdin'

  8. I had one of these visit a bird feeder about a year ago. I was shocked that it was so big and just to see it in general. Haven't seen it since :( This is a great pic.
