Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, August 2020

The northeast corner of Mississippi, USA zone 7b

The 15th of each month is Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

I have three Crape Myrtles, and they are in full bloom here in the middle of August.

My Encore Azalea 'Autumn Royalty' is blooming a month early this year.

Althea, Rose of Sharon

My Butterfly Bush, Buddleia, has plenty of visitors.

The Sulphur Butterflies prefer the Turk's Cap, Malvaviscus, aka Sleeping Hibiscus

And even the tiny Cypress Vine flowers are attracting pollinators!

Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

  3. My heart leaped when I saw the crepe myrtle. As I always say, it's one bush I wish I could have here in upstate New York. Love both their flowers and their bark. Enjoyed your cypress vine, another plant I wish I could grow as I understand they are butterfly magnets.

  6. I have always wanted a Crape Myrtle and they do sell them out here but they seldom bloom here. Not hot enough or for a long period of time so WAH! So beautiful

  7. We planted a crape myrtle about five years ago and finally it is big enough to bloom profusely. We are at the edge of their territory here; they like mild winters.

  9. Your August flowers look beautiful. My poor garden is struggling to survive the heat and drought, but yours seems to be going strong.
