Black Vulture, August 31, 2016

Black Vultures, Coragyps atratus, can be found across much of the southeastern United States. If you look closely you can see the tips of white wing patches that are much more visible in flight. Black Vultures are scavengers, feeding on dead animals that they locate by their keen eyesight.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

  4. Hello!:) What a great shot of what seems to be an enormous bird. I have never seen any kind of vulture, except on blogs, and in films.
Thank you for sharing this bird, which for you is commonplace, but for me is most unusual.

  5. I remember a joke about vultures sitting on a wire supposedly waiting for something to die and one decided it was time to go out and kill something because he was getting hungry and tired of waiting for something to die....

  6. Great photo, I have never seen a vulture before except in a zoo – I won’t call them pretty but they are kind of majestic looking.

    1. Hello Helene, thanks for your visit to my blog.
Your End of the Month view is so pretty! And such a wonderful, wide variety of plants! I love Sunflowers! You may have to get your garden helper up on a ladder to get a photo of the tall one's bloom.
      Have a great week-end!
