Great Blue Herons, February 21, 2015

Great Blue Heron

Great Blue Heron, Hardin county, Tennessee, USA


Great Blue Herons like to swallow their food whole, but that can be a problem!  I don't know if this one was successful or not. I was quite a distance away, using my zoom lens at its limit, and lost sight of it. They really blend in with the grey rocks.

    Hmmm/ That fish does look a tad too big, but I have seen herons eat some huge fish!

    I would say his eyes are bigger than his tummy but sounds as if he managed to down it in one! Great photos.
