Mourning Dove

My Corner of the World and Wild Bird Wednesday

The Mourning Dove, Zenaida macroura, is the most common Dove in North America. We put sunflower seed on the ground to lure them close enough to get a photo. The flowers are wild violets.

I hope you are having a good week!

  4. Beautiful photo! They're beautiful, gentle birds and they mate for life. :) We're seeing more at the feeders now, so it must be spring.

  7. What a nice bird! We now have pigeons in our street as they harvest the fallen acorns from the trees. I like seeing them. Stewart M - Melbourne
