Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day June 2014

Mississippi, USA, zone 7
Day Lily

I have had very little time and no energy for gardening this year,
but I'm enjoying plants that require very little care like these Day Lilies.
Peahen
I had an unusual visitor on Thursday - a peahen!
None of our neighbors have peacocks, so it is a mystery where she came from (and went to).
She came right up to the porch, checking my potted plants for insects, I suppose.
The red and white bloom is a bleeding heart. The blue "bloom" is artificial.
In the top left corner is a peace lily (white blooms).

I've had two chemo treatments and there are two more to come. Thanks for your prayers.

  3. I'm sorry to hear about your chemo. Once they are over you will bounce back and be out there in the garden. How interesting to see a peahen in your garden. Surely someone around has peacocks or she has wandered far and wide. Have you heard them calling? Yes, day lilies are fairly fuss free although the one I am showing on bloom day was a real fuss-pot.

  4. Thank Goodness for sturdy plants that can take care of themselves for a season until you are back to your usual state of health.

Sometimes little visitors like the peahen just turn up when you are in need of looking in on and a little diversion. Prayers for you and your husband whom I know is taking best care of you.

  5. Lea, That's a pretty daylily. They are great easy care plants, aren't they. How nice to have a visit from the pea hen. We live near a park that has pea fow,l and we often hear them, but they have never come for a visit! I hope your treatments are going well. I have you in my thoughts and prayers.
