Garden Blogger's Bloom Day January 2013

Hellebores
Sometimes called Lenten Rose though they are not related to roses at all.

This photo was made last Friday, a mild sunny day.
Since then we have had over four inches of pounding rain
with temperatures dropping to freezing.
Everything in the garden today is beat down and shivering in the cold.
I'm so glad I made this photo on Friday instead of waiting until today.

Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

I took little side trips to visit your Night Blooming Cactus and your Christmas Cactus posts. Lovely.

  4. Lovely photo! I absolutely adore hellebores, I have one in flower right now and I am waiting for the rest to start flowering. We have a cold snap here in London right now so everything is on hold for a little while.

  5. I think many of us are tired of rain. At least Hellebores are tough plants so yours probably does not mind all that cold and wet!

  6. Beautiful shot! Freezing rain is the worst. Stay warm and I hope that your garden endures the ice!

  11. I have two young patches of Hellebores started. I hope they look as beautiful as yours one day. Right now their leaves are green, but sad.
