The Black and Yellow Garden Spider,
Argiope aurantia, is a harmless orb-weaver spider that is common across much of North America. They are beneficial spiders, catching and eating many harmful insects
This view of the underside more clearly shows the zigzag strands in the middle of the web that is called the stabilimentum.
