Canada Goose, April 16, 2016

Saturday's Critters, Camera Critters, and I'd Rather B Birdin'

We were leaving a restaurant in the Memphis, Tennessee area when I glanced across the hedge to the building next door.
April 3, 2016

I was astonished to see a Canada Goose nesting on a ledge at the edge of the roof! It looks like she made her nest from Pine straw that fell onto the roof from neighboring trees.

Just look around you. Birds are everywhere, waiting to surprise you!

Have a great week-end!

House Finch, April 13, 2016

ABC Wednesday and Wild Bird Wednesday

N is for Nest: a circular structure of twigs, grass, mud, etc. formed by a bird as a place to lay and incubate its eggs and rear its young.

This Finch is gathering material to build its nest.
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, March 15, 2016
The House Finch, Carpodacus mexicanus, can be found in the eastern and western parts of the United States, but is not often seen in the mid-section of the country. House Finches lay four or five pale blue eggs, lightly spotted with black, in a well-made cup of grass in a bush, thicket, or natural cavity, or on a building. (National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Birds)

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!
